Decker is Here
He protected me from danger and became my biggest threat.
He’s my defender. My savior.
A brutally determined man with a cocky smirk and an equally cocky attitude.
Broad. Strong. Focused.
He seduces me with his flirtation.
Warms me with his care.
But he’s hiding something.
There are ulterior motives beyond his concern for my security.
A thirst for more than my safe keeping.
I can’t fall for him. Can’t be tempted by his touch.
Not when he can’t be trusted.
But questioning my protector means I’ve now become his target.
From bestselling author, Eden Summers, comes another seductively thrilling standalone destined to leave you breathless.
These days I had the most amazing reads! 2018 has been fantastic when it comes to my author discoveries. You know how there are authors from which you enjoy one, maybe 2 books? Well, Eden Summers is one author which has become and auto-read/auto-buy for me. I have read “Inarticulate” and loved it and these days I have devoured “Hunter” and “Decker”.
Today we are celebrating the release for “Decker” and it’s such a festive day! This book was a torment for me. There were pages I read breathlessly. Honestly, at some point all I wanted was to just skip to the end of the chapter because I was so anxious to see what happens. But the writing is so beautiful! Suffice to say I have savored it!
“Life is a game. If it isn’t fun, what’s the point in playing?”
Decker is a refreshing, yet terrifying guy. He is charming, funny, but dangerous and apparently cannot be trusted. Or at least this is what his boss believes. Still, he trusts him with his little sister, when a shooting threatens the safety of the entire Torian family. Keira has been a beautiful sight for Decker, but off limits, precisely because of who her brother is, but her innocence stands to question as well. So both don’t trust each other, but feel this intense pull.
Decker is a loose cannon. He’s the guy who eases tension with his endless sarcasm. He’s also the guy who will get himself killed for running his mouth.
It’s very difficult to express in words the amount of emotions we have. Eden Summers has done a fantastic job in giving life to these two characters. Yes, they are alive and their emotions feel real. You can actually experience them. I love how well the POVs are created. There is a difference in the narration, like Decker’s part in manly enough and feels like that and Keira’s feels feminine and sensible. Both characters have a breakdown at some point and that one felt real as well. Oh, my God! So good!
I have two options—sling her over my shoulder and carry her stupid ass inside, or walk away and calm down in private.
Well, both aren’t really options.
One is a desire, the other is a fucking necessity.
The plot is a surprise. It may be predictable to a point and I may have imagined a scarier ending, but it evolves in a perfect way so that it may blend beautifully with the emotions. There are scenes I would have never seen coming and there are pages and pages that kept me on the edge of my seat.
This thing between us is an avalanche. The freefall. The build of power. The upcoming carnage.
I loved it and I don’t know how to say it with better words. “Decker” is a book that cannot be simply read. Eden Summers is not an author you read and then …hop to the next romance you have lying around. Oh no, because the story just sticks there in your mind and you cannot wait for the next book in the series. This book needs to be savored. The reviewer in me, that annoying side which says that I need to detach myself and rate this accordingly must shut up. I would give it 4-4.5 stars, but I adored it so much. 5 suns, because the stars are not bright enough!
Hunter – Thoughts
I wasn’t looking for his kind of trouble.
It found me anyway.
Tall. Dark. Addictive.
He unravels me with his kisses.
Melts me with his touch.
But he has secrets.
A hidden agenda, beyond his craving for me.
A desire for more than tangled silk sheets and our sweat-slicked skin.
I need to run. From him. From the lies.
But running from the hunter means I’ve now become the prey.
From bestselling author, Eden Summers, comes a seductively thrilling standalone destined to leave you breathless.
Before proceeding with Decker, I would advise you to read “Hunter”. The books are not necessarily linked, but Hunter and his woman play an important role in the next book and it is a great start to understand the world. Oh, and because is effing awesome!
I’m falling, yet soaring. I’m hurting, yet drowning in the most exquisite pleasure. There’s no life. No past. No future.
This book was a complete surprise when it comes to the plot. In the beginning, we have only her point of view. Deliberately, the chapters are labeled “Her” and “Him” because both main characters are surrounded in mystery and both have an agenda. This I liked so much, it was an interesting touch added to a writing so full of emotions and so intense.
So many conflicting aspects. A fucking kaleidoscope. Or maybe that’s what she wants me to see. Smoke and mirrors.
He is dangerous, dark, strong and demands respect. But she is equally challenging. I would say each has met his match. The attraction is there and keeps on going. He is the symbol of strength, real strength that she so desperately needs and she is the mystery that frustrates him. There is a connection between them, not only physical and emotional, but also when it comes to the case they are trying to solve. This connection is so well put in light!
I’m so lost in her I can’t tell when common sense ended and obsession began. It wasn’t supposed to go down like this. It started as a bit of fun. I was messing with the cocky bombshell with the sassy mouth. Then she flipped the fucking board on me and started to beat me at my own game. She had me chasing my tail and second-guessing myself.
Because there are so many quotable parts, because the writing is so amazing and so real and so emotional! Yes, there are some holes in the plot, but you get so wrapped up in the dynamics and in the incredible amount of quotable lines, that in the end it doesn’t even matter. I just don’t care. It made me feel incredible and it made my hours spent reading it feel like the most amazing time ever!
None of it existed, yet the fiction weaves around me like tendrils of the finest silk, delicate and comforting in my denial.
A book that slowly introduces the reader into the dark world of gangs, corruptness and crime, but with characters so interesting and gripping would be a good way to describe “Hunter”. Two characters that may seem alike, buy with so many issues to solve. I absolutely adored it!
Sometimes it’s difficult to be objective when you fall in love with a book. Like in real life, we all have issues, yet we manage to find someone who can accept us. If I were to be objective, I would give both these books 4, or 4.5 stars. But I felt them, I didn’t just read them for the purpose of a review. That’s the signature of a great author. Eden Summers has become one of my favorite authors so easily.
The problem I really have now is who do I like? Hunter or Decker? Hmm… I have a feeling I should save myself for Cole Torian.
