My first priority as a voice-over artist is to convey your thoughts and ideas in an entertaining and insightful manner; not distracting from your message, but enhancing your words. It is my personal goal to help your audience engage with the text in an immersive and memorable way.

As a techie with a passion for performance and a love of the written word, the voice-over industry called to me. I am now fortunate enough to be living my dream of audiobook narration from my home studio, in Calgary, AB, Canada.

Review

This series gets better and better! It is fantastic from all points of view. We have an interesting plot, really really strong characters that really evolve throughout the story and unexpected turn of events. Add to that a great narration and you have one amazing audiobook.

Sawyer goes though many changes. She hast to deal with being a Carbon and also has to face betrayal from those she loves. Her transformation is inside and out. The author has a beautiful way of showing both aspects of our main character and we get to analyze her inside out.

This second book is full of twists, as I was mentioning, not only when it comes to the battle for survival, but as well when it comes to the relationship between sawyer and Kenzie. I cannot wait to see how this will evolve. I love both of them, but I also want to see what will happen with the new …”addition” J

The narration is great! I have mentioned this in my review for book 1 as well, Chelsea Stephens and  Steve Campbell give so much life to our characters. We can feel Sawyer’s rage and pain and Kenzie’s torment. I loved them so so much!

Now, please excuse me while I go take a breath after such an intense story and I will see you back with my review for the third book. I have no doubt it will be as great as the previous two. Happy reading!

5 stars J

My Review

The second book in The Werewolf M.D. Series is a great surprise. I did like the first one, but “Werewolf Epidemic” is much more engaging and full of action. It kept me at the edge of my seat and I savored every word in each chapter.

This time, Isabella and Roman have to face stronger enemies – seen or unseen. The events challenge not only the supernatural abilities, but as well their knowledge as doctors. They fight against a virus and against others trying to hurt werewolves. Their love can withstand it all however. I loved their devotion in book 1 and I love it even more here.

As in case of the first book, I must mention that I do not like the cover – it doesn’t feel werewolf-y enough – and I have my small issues with the narration. Maybe it’s me not rezoning with the narrator’s voice. However, it was an intense experience and I must admit Hugh Bradley did a great job of transmitting the tension in every moment. I would have wanted a bit more voice acting, that’s all – changing the voice and all that.

All in all, I liked the series quite a lot and I did enjoy my time with the characters. There are fresh elements when it comes to werewolves, we have intense action and a lot of twists. I do recommend it – it’s short and very entertaining. 5 stars for the book, 3.5 for the narration = 4.25 stars = 4 stars. Happy reading!

Audiobook Review: Evil’s Unlikely Assassin

Author: Jenn Windrow

Narrator: Chelsea Stephens

Length: 8 hours 49 minutes

Series: Alexis Black, Book 1

Publisher: Irreverent Publishing

Released: Jan. 23, 2019

Genre: Urban Fantasy

“Evil’s Unlikely Assassin is a promising urban fantasy debut that features all that’s great about the genre–action, attitude, and ass-kicking.” -Jaye Wells, USA Today bestselling author of The Sabina Kane and Prospero’s War series

Vampire Alexis Black is on a mission – to rejoin the human race.

Coerced into signing an ironclad contract by an Angel-with-attitude, Alexis must hunt down and assassinate at least one vampire, werewolf, or creepy crawly every night for fifty years to become human again. Too bad the contract didn’t mention the badass vampire who now rides shotgun in her brain, insatiable bloodlust, or her new I-hate-everything-with-fangs sidekick. If she can fulfill her end of the bargain, her humanity is restored, if not she will be destroyed.

But when a revenge-seeking bloodsucker threatens her city, Alexis must risk everything to ensure there’s a humanity to return to. Since her vampire nature is her greatest weapon to defeat the monsters that threaten her friends and future, Alexis must choose to accept her inner beast or watch those she loves die.

Jenn Windrow is an award winning author of Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance. Vampires, Greek gods, and a bit of Freak Show fun for everyone.

She loves characters who have a pinch of spunk, a dash of attitude, and a large dollop of sex appeal. Top it all off with a huge heaping helping of snark, and you’ve got the ingredients for the kind of fast paced stories she loves to read and write. Home is a suburb of it’s-so-hot-my-shoes-have-melted-to-the-pavement Phoenix. Where she lives with her husband, two daughters, and a slew of animals that seem to keep following her home, at least that’s what she claims.

Oh, hello Vampire! I am loving the series so so much! I have just finished with book one and I already want to see more. I was so captivated I didn’t realize when time flew by. Because it’s action and then more action. And later something happens and … yes, more action!

I am a sucker for vampires (haha!), so give me one bloody (literary) story and I am all yours. And our Alexis with her crowd of helpers and enemies is so amazing. She has fighting in her, she has strength and one hell of a vampire to back her up. I liked her resolution to do what it takes to get back her humanity and how firm she is in keeping away from blood.

Refreshing and intense, we have a gathering of beings, each with a special personality. The characters are not alike at all. People, actually beings, from opposite sides must work together to defeat a common enemy. There is so much action, you actually cannot spare a minute. There is something happening all the time… I love it !

I loved the narration as well. Chelsea Stephens is amazing! Her voice acting is superb! She kept me all the way with the characters and her way of being sarcastic, funny, enraged, a vampire, a ghost and all the other personalities, incorporating so many emotions… she does it flawlessly, in my opinion at least! (but others think the same, so … )

Suffice to say I have found a new favorite series and a new favorite author. I do encourage you to read this one, audio is even better. It has a little bit of everything you want. It’s entertaining and awesome. What more can you need? Happy Reading!

Review 2

Yes, paranormal romance – I was missing that actually – with a shape shifter. I actually do like these books and I like that forever mating and all these things we all Romance Lovers are already used to. This book comes with something that looks fresh but also overlooks some of the items I personally like.

Let’s take them one by one. Isabella comes to Breaux Bridge, Louisiana looking to put to good use her experience as a nurse and hopes to learn as much as possible from the doctor in town who seems to perform miracles. Little did she expect to be surrounded by so much impossible. Luckily, the good doctor is smart, handsome and so much more. The bond between them happens mostly because she just can’t stay away – even if warned. When a local pack seem to want more, things get crazier and crazier.

I liked the idea of using one’s abilities for good and as well Isabella’s persistence. She wants to understand how Doctor Roman performs his healing. When things heat up, she never loses faith. Roman is strong and knows to stand his ground. His mature character is more than visible. The romance between the two starts pretty well, but evolves pretty fast.

And time to mention some items that I did not enjoy that much. Starting with the basics, I do not like the cover – I apologize as well to the young man (probably same age as mine), he is good looking, but I would have expected something different. I missed the fated mate trope, it would have fitted perfectly (I am a fan of tropes, if done properly and in this case I think it could have been very easily included and could have justified how fast these two fall in love). Lastly, I would like to mention that I did not particularly enjoy the narration. I did not dislike it, but the difference between Isabella and Roman was too little when it came to voice acting. Other than that, not many complains.

All in all, I was left wishing to know more of the story and that is a great thing. I cannot wait to start with book two and see what else happens next. We are left with a good cliffhanger so beware! Happy reading and stick around to see more. 3.5 stars for now.

Sophie Diem’s boss has skipped town, abandoning their counseling firm and taking her investment money with him. As she seeks to rebuild her professional career, she is distressed by the appearance of a stranger. The man keeps to the shadows, but he is definitely stalking her.

In an attempt to flee him, she accepts a job offer…in London. Surely, crossing the Atlantic would be enough to deter her shadow.

Sophie is shocked to spot her shadow in London. What she learns is that Glenn, the shadow, is not a stalker but rather her only protection.

USA TODAY bestselling author, Maureen A. Miller worked in the software industry for fifteen years. Recently, Maureen branched out into the Young Adult Science Fiction market with the popular BEYOND Series. To her it was still Romantic Suspense…just on another planet!

Review 2

It is so easy to get lost in this book! I started it and did not realize the time until it was over. I loved it so so much and I cannot wait to read more books by this author!

I was sold by the book – a woman having to rebuild her life after being crossed by her boss and also having to run away to escape a lurking man. The blurb is detailed enough to give you a glimpse into what happens here but I’m telling you, the mystery and romance go so well together!

The author does put the right amount of suspense and love that we don’t lose interest for one in favor of the other. This is something that sometimes happens to me when reading this type of stories. I find myself looking forward to see how the couple is doing, while missing some details about the action behind this. We have front row seats to both in this case. Also, I managed to form a connection to both Sophie and Glenn – I cheered for her to rebuild her career and also cheered for Glenn to find his answers.

Brandy Skelly did such a great job narrating the story. She managed to build the suspense, to capture each character’s reactions in the key moments and as well I had no issues understanding who was who.

Even if I am not a fan of the cover, I liked the story very very much and I am so anxious to read more books by this author. If you’ll check her Goodreads’ page, there are many books to read 🙂 And all are already highly rated. I hope you’ll give “Shadow” a try and come back with your opinion 🙂 Happy Reading!

Audiobook Review: Living Proof

Author: Peter J. Thompson

Narrator: Gary Tiedemann

Length: 10 hours 24 minutes

Publisher: Peter J. Thompson

Released: Dec. 19, 2018

Genre: Suspense

Government secrets. Biological weapons. Human subjects.

In a top-secret complex surrounded by miles of Texas scrubland, the United States military is working on a new form of germ warfare. Taken from homeless shelters and prisons, the subjects, discarded men and women of America, serve their country as unwilling lab rats.

Ramon Willis didn’t commit the murder that put him on death row. But he’s guilty of something worse – surviving the virus and escaping his captors. Knowing he can’t take on the corrupt system alone, there’s only one person he can turn to – Lena Dryer, the reporter who covered his case and watched him die.

With assassins dogging their trail and all their options for survival closed off, they must risk everything to bring this conspiracy to light. But time is short. When an extreme faction in the government pushes forward with the next phase of their plan, the fate of the nation hangs in the balance.

Peter Thompson grew up on the east side of Chicago, in the shadow of the steel mills where the air was sooty and smelled of sulfur. His life wasn’t always so gritty, but the grit and realism finds its way into his thrillers. He has always loved stories of every kind, and one of his joys is finding a way to get inside character’s heads, seeing the world as they see it and feeling their triumphs, pain, and fear. He visualizes his characters when he writes, and they are larger than life in the big screen of his imagination.

Before pursuing his passion and becoming a full-time author, he tried his hand at everything from factory work, breaking cement in a construction crew, running his own pizza shop, and he was a well-regarded presence in the mortgage industry for nearly thirty years. When he isn’t writing, Peter loves, spicy food, live music, and exciting and thought-provoking books and movies. If I were to describe in two words this book, those would be: believable and visual. As many other reviewers mention in their comments, the story is very believable and can be related to easily. The author did an amazing job transmitting the scenes. This entire book is like watching a movie. It was a great experience.

We have a main character whose life has gone from bad to worse. He is now struggling to find justice, but quickly realizes he is up against an enemy far greater than he would have ever imagined. With help, he uncovers mystery after mystery and becomes immersed in this political conspiracy and we can see even in our days. Ramon and Lena are amazing together and they work incredibly well. Both brave, intelligent and willing bring the truth to light.

I enjoyed my time with the book so much. The plot caught my attention so fast and the pace was perfect to keep my interest. The narration was as well amazing. Gary Tiedemann’s experience is not easy to ignore. His voice acting is great, his way of expressing emotions is fantastic, I loved it so so much.

All in all, this was a fantastic experience. “Living Proof” is a story that will grip you from the start. It’s a time well spent, I can tell you that! I hope you will consider it for your next read and come back with your opinion J Happy reading!

Before diving into my review, allow me please to apologize to Jess and the author for the (very) late post of my review. Things have gone from crazy to crazier and I am trying to find a new balance around the many changes.

“Sail” is an incredible book and is even more enjoyable in audio format. I have loved every minute of every chapter and I am so eager to get to the next one in the series. We have an incredible world with exceptional characters and a plot that will keep you guessing.

Absidy is different. She has always been this way – needing iron to keep ghosts away. But now she needs all she can find to save her sister. Disguised as a young boy, helping the ship’s cook, she embarks on a journey to Deep Space, a place full of dangers and many unknown threats, to bring her sister home. Considered a fugitive, she has no way of turning back. She finds a potential ally, when the ship’s pilot discovers who she really is. Mace is a tormented soul himself and is not sure if the girl in a ship full of men can be trusted.

I loved so many things about the characters, but most of all, I loved Absidy’s struggle with being different. She is afraid to reveal her need of iron or her “curse” of attracting ghosts. There is so much to uncover when it comes to this and the book offers so so much. She and Mace (our pilot) evolve so much together and as well individually.

The narration was fantastic to say the least. We have a beautiful voice that can very well illustrate the emotions. Most of the story is about fear, regardless if it’s fear of ghosts, or fear of being discovered. Kamala Alcantara is amazing.

All in all, I loved it so so much and I cannot wait to see where the story takes us. The world building is great, the writing is great and the narration is superb. We have the perfect combination for a 5 star book. Again, I apologize for my delay in posting this review because any amazing story needs to be shared with other readers as soon as possible!
