Book Blitz: The Divorce Attorney by Melanie Munton

The Divorce Attorney
Melanie Munton
Publication date: May 26th 2020
Genres: Adult, Comedy, Contemporary, Romance

What are you supposed to do when your insanely hot divorce attorney leans over after you’ve signed your divorce papers and seductively whispers in your ear, “Give me a call if you want to know how it feels to be handled by a real man since you were clearly too much woman for him,” before sliding his business card over and walking out the door?

I mean, what do you do with that?

Sure, I’m tempted. I just lost a hundred and eighty pounds of stupid, cheating man. I deserve to treat myself.

The thing is, I think he might be too much man for me.

After all, he’s fifteen years my senior, though he doesn’t look it.

But the urge to learn what this seasoned pro could teach me proves irresistible.

And as it turns out, he’s a pro at a lot of things…like destroying people’s lives.

EXCERPT:

“Hey,” he coaxes, framing my face with his hands. “Where’d you go, darlin’? Come back to me.”

I put all of our potential issues on a detour and focus on the man in front of me. “How could I be anywhere else when I’ve got that”—I wriggle my hips, grinding against the ridge in his pants—“beneath me?”

He grunts. “Just checking. I was worried I was losing my edge there for a second.”

He shifts the angle of his hips, driving his jutting erection directly against my mons.

My eyes fall shut on a moan. “Pretty sure that’s impossible.”

“No, what’s impossible is your body. You’ve been shoving these tits at me in my dreams ever since you first walked into my office. You know that? They’ve been the first thing on my mind every morning for almost a week now.”

Hearing that does all kinds of fluttery things to my insides.

His hands guide my hips into a rocking motion. I earnestly follow his direction, creating a simmering friction between our connected bodies.

“Funny,” I whisper up at the night sky. “I’ve had similar dreams about you. Only you’re shoving something of yours in my face.”

He growls, his mouth drifting over the swell of my breasts. “Is that right? You want to tell me more about that?”

“You want me to show you instead?”

He stills. “Is that a serious question?”

I grin. “Predictable man.”

“I’ve been called worse.”

Before I can shimmy off his lap, his hand slides up to the back of my neck and pulls me down for a kiss that is so searing hot, it feels more like a brand.

And dear God, that’s exactly what he’s managing to do. With every second I spend in his company, with every flick of his tongue, with every drawl of the word darlin’, he’s embedding himself beneath my skin, tattooing his touch onto every inch of my body.

He might as well have already branded his initials right on my ass.

And his expression after he pulls out of the kiss tells me I may be doing the very same thing to him. Surprisingly, after the conversation about marriage and kids, seeing that symmetry between us is comforting.

I can’t take my eyes off of his as I open the button of his shorts, lower the zipper, and peel the material down his legs. His eyelids grow heavy with lust, his breaths shallowing.

“You were sitting much like this in my dreams,” I tell him as I take in the beautiful sight of his thick shaft tenting his briefs. “But your arms were stretched out along the bench.”

As if his body is being controlled by my words, he drapes his muscular arms over the back of the bench.

I nod. “Just like that. And your shirt was off.”

He obeys without hesitation, ripping the shirt over his head. “I was sitting naked on a public bench with you standing fully clothed in front of me? You dirty girl.”

I have never seen anything more arousing than the sight of him sitting almost completely naked, sprawled out for my viewing pleasure, in one of the most breathtaking places I could ever imagine, awaiting a blow job from my mouth.

“I never said we were in public.” I reach for the hem of my tank top and pull it over my head. “And I never said I was fully clothed.”

His heated gaze inspects my lacy lavender bra. “That’s better.”

“That’s all that’s coming off for now.”

He frowns. “But I want more.”

I quirk an eyebrow. “I believe I was the naked one on your chaise last night, and you were the clothed one. You going to complain?”

His legs fall wider. “Not on your life. Show me how you dream about me, darlin’.”

I inch his briefs down his legs, my anticipation rising. I’m biting my lip as I fall to my knees, bracing myself with my hands on his thighs.

“My pleasure, Counselor.”

“Pretty sure that’s going to be mine.”

I dive right in without warning.

With the level of steel his rod is at, I figure our words have been enough foreplay.

Jesus!” His thigh muscles tighten as he jolts in surprise. “That’s a good way to give a man a heart attack.”

I ease my mouth back a hair, my lips just shy of grazing his tip. “I’m sorry, did you say heart attack or hard attack?”

His head falls back. “I think I’m having both right now.”

“Then you better hold on because this next part might kill you.”

I swipe my tongue over his head, then glance up to see his hands clutching the bench in a death grip.

“Any last words?”

He blows out a long breath. “Fucking flatline me.”

Book Blitz: I Hate to Stand Alone: A Small Town Enemies to Lovers Romance by Casey Winter

I Hate to Stand Alone: A Small Town Enemies to Lovers Romance
Casey Winter
(Little Fall, #1)
Publication date: May 29th 2020
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

The small town I ran away from. The Navy SEAL I’m supposed to hate. If I can get through this summer without falling for the off-limits alpha, I’ll consider myself lucky.

Steamy, intense chemistry … is just one of the things I shouldn’t be feeling for Luke Nelson, soldier turned security agency operative. His brother and I were high school sweethearts, but he broke my heart. Plus, our families hate each other, à la the Hatfields and the McCoys.

I return to Little Fall, Maine, to care for my sick mom. He returns to fulfil his brother’s last wish of reopening their mother’s roller rink. I spent half my childhood at Family Roller … but never with him.

He was the older bad boy. I was the girl next door. Love was never an option. But now we can’t stop making eyes at each other.

As I reunite with old family and friends, I learn that Little Fall has just as many secrets as my heart. And even if I’m supposed to say no, my intrigue for dreamy, handsome, rugged Luke Nelson is off the charts.

It turns out I might have a second chance after all … even if it’s with my ex-boyfriend’s big brother.

This full-length romance has a happily-ever-after and can be read as a full standalone. It is free with Kindle Unlimited.

Subsequent books in the Little Fall series cover different heroes and heroines … though your favorite characters will make appearances.

EXCERPT:

Hannah

I take a small sip of wine, letting its flavor burst on my tongue before swallowing. “You know how I hate to stand alone at parties?”

Penny rolls her eyes, a grin of reminiscence lighting up her face. “Do I remember it? Effing hell, Banana, it was one of the running themes throughout our childhoods. You couldn’t stand still, like ever. If you weren’t doing something, you were dying. That’s how it seemed to you. I remember one rare time when you convinced me to come to a party, I found you in the basement with a couple of the so-called dorks – June’s brother, right? – playing Dungeons & Dragons.”

“Oh, yeah,” I giggle, shaking my head at the memory. “I actually forgot about that.”

“I asked you what the heck you were doing, and you just looked me dead in the eye in that can’t-sit-still Hannah way and said, ‘Listen, Penny. I hate to stand alone. It’s as simple as that.’ All I did was go and use the effing toilet, girl. It wasn’t my fault Doug Helmsmore had a bad belly and I had to wait in line for the bathroom, was it?” She giggles. “But that was your little saying, whenever you threw yourself wholeheartedly into a new experience. If I ever called you brave, you’d toss your head and say, ‘It’s not brave, Lennie, I just hate to stand alone.’ But you were wrong, you know. It was brave, is brave, the way you throw yourself into stuff. I could never do it.”

“Thank you,” I say. “It’s really nice of you to say. But the point is, like, lately I’ve found myself standing alone at parties and having it feel sort of natural. Because even if I like my skating buddies, they’re not, I don’t know … they’re not home. Does that sound cheesy or what?”

Penny waves a hand. “Well, that’s great, then. If that’s really how you feel, it’s win-win. You’re happy and I get my bestie back. So what’s the problem?”

I pause, swallowing an awkward lump.

“Luke,” Penny says a moment later. “He’s the spanner in the works, right?”

I nod. “I guess so. To be honest, part of me was wondering if this would happen when I came back here for the long haul, like I sort of expected I might get involved in Little Fall stuff again. But what I definitely didn’t expect was for Luke Nelson to reopen Family Roller. I didn’t expect to find him completely, insanely irresistible. And I definitely didn’t expect to find out that our attraction went beyond just the physical.”

“Is that why you keep checking your phone?” she asks.

“What?” I flinch. “Do I?”

Penny rolls her eyes. “Hon, you’ve checked it at least once a minute.”

“That’s crazy,” I mutter. “I really didn’t even realize. But yeah, he texted me saying he wanted me to give him a day, which is sort of annoying, honestly, since I thought last night—well, I guess I thought it meant something.”

“Go to Family Roller, then,” Penny says firmly. “Go for a skate. If you feel like talking to him, march right up to him and say your piece. If not, just skate. That sounds like a win-win, too.”

“But there’s a lose in there, as well,” I mutter.

“And what’s that?”

“He breaks my heart, just like his little brother did.”

Author Bio:

Hello beautiful readers!

Thank you so, so much for checking out my books. My name is Casey and I just love to write romance with depth and characters you’ll be able to connect with. My current series is called Little Fall, named for the town where it’s set, but each book is a complete STANDALONE … that said, don’t expect Luke, Morgan, Hannah, or Penny (and many others) to disappear anytime soon! Little Fall is a town you can get invested in, for sure.

I just want to say I’m so grateful to you for checking out my work, and I hope you enjoy reading my romances as much as I enjoyed writing them (hopefully without less stressing LOL).

I’ve been writing ever since I was a little kid, sitting at my dad’s fireplace in cozy New England winters and penning stories in my Barbie notepad. More recently, I’ve switched the notepad for a laptop, but I’ve never fallen out of love with the craft. Now, I live in just plain ol’ England with a hunky husband and a Jack Russel named Loki.

I’d really appreciate if you could follow my Amazon author page, as I’m going to be around for a LONG time.

Bye for now! Or, should I say, see you in Little Fall …

That’s the way I’ve always been and how I’ll always be. And I have one helluva fight ahead of me. I’ll do anything for the people I love, but what I didn’t expect was to be fighting the one person I thought would always be on my side. I don’t know if I can ever forgive him for this or if we can ever move forward. Some betrayals are just unforgivable.

Author Bio:

I’m a stay at home mom that loves to read. Some of my favorite titles are Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Horatio Hornblower. I started writing when I was trying to come up with suggestions on ways I could help bring in some extra money. I came up with the idea that I could donate plasma because you could earn an extra $500/month. My husband responded with, “No. Find something else. Write a blog. Write a book.” I didn’t think I had anything to share on blog that a thousand other mothers hadn’t already thought of. I decided to take his challenge seriously and sat down to write my first book, Jack. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed writing. From there, the stories continued to flow and I haven’t been able to stop. I hope my readers enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them. Between reading, writing, and taking care of three small kids, my days are quite full.

EXCERPT:

“Why did you even come here?” I demanded, not moving.

“To see how my favorite Executioner was doing,” he said with that cold smile he was known for. “I figured if you saw me here first, you would be less inclined to try to kill me on the streets and lose your job. Consider it a courtesy call. I’m in Phoenix for work and would like to finish it and leave as soon as possible.” He turned and walked out of the bar, leaving me standing alone, everyone watching me.

“Kaliya…” Paden’s warning tone came out. “Maybe you do need to just head home and stay out of this.”

“Funny. I was thinking I needed to join this little hunt for a stupid human. Ten million is good money.” I grinned over my shoulder. I never gave Sinclair a free pass. He was in my city, and I was going to win this time. Less than twenty-four hours back in Phoenix, and things were getting interesting. This seemed like it was going to be the most fun the supernaturals of Phoenix were going to see for at least a decade.

Sinclair, The Board, Mygi Pharmaceuticals, and one human stuck in the middle of it.

“You could lose your job,” Paden reminded me, walking close to say it under his breath. “Kaliya, they warned you off Sinclair fifteen years ago, the last time Cassius was able to get him to stand in front of the Tribunal.”

“He’s in my city,” I reminded my friend. “He wants to play? We’ll play.”

I walked out. I didn’t intend to follow Sinclair, but I needed to get home so I could start hacking into Mygi’s system. I needed to know what he knew if I had any chance of beating him to the prize. If this Raphael Alvarez knew anything important to my personal case, I couldn’t let that fucking vampire make him disappear.

Can he keep his hands off her cupcakes?

Reagan Campbell’s flight just got grounded. She’s planned her brother’s perfect wedding weekend down to the minute, but her checklist didn’t include running into the one guy she’s never been able to get over. Only two things stand between her and the Florida Keys: fifteen-hundred miles and the man who broke her heart.

Zach Anderson has a score to settle with Senator Campbell. And running into his daughter, Reagan, gives him just the opportunity he needs. But it’ll take more than planes, trains, and automobiles to get her all the way to Florida in one piece. He might not be able to keep his hands off her cupcakes, but will he be able to keep his heart out of the way long enough to exact his revenge?

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

Reagan Campbell smoothed a non-existent wrinkle from the lapel of her three-quarter sleeve, out-of-season black blazer. Trying to figure out what to wear as she made the transition from the raging March blizzard in Chicago to the white sandy beaches of the Florida Keys had almost made her late for her afternoon flight at O’Hare.

The sooner she got on the plane, the better she’d feel. She leaned against a pillar and glanced at her watch. Any minute they should be making the boarding announcement.

On cue, the gate agent picked up the microphone and a crackle sounded through the gate-area speakers. “May I have your attention, please? For passengers traveling on flight 542 to Miami, we’ve received word from the ground crew that they’ve shut down one runway due to snow accumulation. We’ll be delayed for at least an hour while they work through the backlog of departures.”

A collective groan rose from the disgruntled passengers, like someone stood in front of them with a conductor’s baton and told them to let their disappointment out in unison on the count of three. An hour or two? Reagan’s hand shook as she slipped a stray strand of hair behind her ear. Teddy would kill her for not taking the flight with the rest of their family earlier this morning.

The gate agent continued, “Things might change if they can get another de-icing machine up and running. So please stay close to the gate area.”

Reagan glanced out the wall of windows at the blustery, late winter snowstorm. A mid-March blizzard wasn’t outside the realm of possibility in Chicago. But how dare the weather try to interfere with her plans? She’d orchestrated her brother’s wedding down to the tiniest detail. And now Mother Nature wanted to mess with her?

The rest of her family made it out of Chicago before the storm rolled in, on a chartered, early morning flight her dad’s Chief of Staff had arranged. As Senate Majority Leader, Ross Campbell had connections and wasn’t shy about using them. Especially if it meant keeping his family out of the limelight and avoiding any unpleasant run-ins with the press.

Reagan’s anxiety had kicked into high gear at the thought of flying halfway across the country in a tiny tin can with wings. So she’d used a mandatory meeting at the office as an excuse to take a later commercial flight. If she was going to be gone for a long weekend, she justified to herself, she’d better tie up loose ends or she’d never be able to enjoy herself. It had taken her years to secure a promotion to executive management for a nationwide luxury resort chain that was headed her way. She wasn’t about to risk it.

At least on a big plane she felt a little safer. If she’d finally had the courage to conquer her fear of flying, she’d be sliding her freshly-pedicured toes into strappy sandals and sitting at the beachside bar, sipping a mojito by now.

The strappy sandals were nestled inside a felt shoe pouch in her checked roller bag. But she could do something about that drink. Her gaze swept over the tacky, thatched hut of the busy airport bar, no doubt an attempt to bring some south of the border sizzle to the dull terminal. She gathered her purse and the bakery box full of cupcakes she’d picked up for her brother, and made her way to a vacant high-top.

Just as she reached for a stool, a trio of flight attendants laid claim to the table. Reagan stepped to the side to glance around the packed bar. With so many passengers delayed, it would probably be a while before another table cleared. A cup of hot tea from the coffee shop across the way would have to keep her pre-flight jitters at bay.

“You can sit with me.”

The voice came from behind her. She hadn’t heard that mixture of grit and deep, rich timbre since the ill-fated night of her high school graduation party. But that was impossible, it couldn’t be him.

She took in a deep breath and steeled herself for disappointment. He’d moved to California. Hadn’t heard anything about him in over eight years. Well, except for a late-night, wine-induced Googling session where she’d discovered he’d become a professional photographer after all and had some prints for sale through a gallery in Santa Cruz.

Seeing his two-by-two-inch bio picture had sent a zing right to her hoohah and left her tingling with a mixture of regret and what-might-have-been remorse. Slowly turning, she braced herself for the letdown of some middle-aged businessman on the hunt for a quickie.

“Reagan Campbell. Long time no see, huh?”

Four square inches of a pixelated PNG image on his web site had done nothing to prepare her for the sight of the broad-chested, confident man before her. Her knees turned to spaghetti noodles, and her vision went fuzzy at the edges, like she was looking through a dark tunnel and Zach Anderson stood at the other end, illuminated in a beam of dazzling sunlight.

She grabbed the back of a stool to steady herself.

“Zach?” His name floated from her lips on a breathy exhale. For over eight years his memory made her emotions bounce back and forth between extremes. Joy at the way he used to make her feel. Anger at the chicken shit way he’d ended things. Shame at the way she’d thrown herself at him the last night they’d been together.

The anger and sadness had eventually faded. She even let herself think about Zach from time to time. Even pictured running into each other. But meeting at a cheesy airport bar wasn’t how it was supposed to go.

He stood and wrapped her in a strong, comfortable hug.

The scent of sunshine and leather drifted off his skin. Her brain registered the scruff of his whiskers against her cheek and the feel of his pecs crushed against her chest. Her heart glowed at the warmth and security of being snug in his arms. Her girly parts screamed for more.

All too soon, the hug ended. He gestured to an empty stool and signaled the harried waitress to return to the table.

“Pull up a chair. You on that flight to Miami?”

Stunned by her reaction to the embrace, Reagan nodded and waited a beat, sure the hunky hallucination would fade away as quickly as he had appeared. When Zach’s image didn’t dissolve, she gripped the edges of the small table in both hands.

He smiled, actually gave her the grin with the dimples, like the last time she’d seen him he hadn’t had his hands all over her naked chest. A wave of heat rolled up her neck.

“You all right, Reagan? You look a little warm. Have some water.”

I thought I’d found sanctuary with the Reckless Kings, but it only put me in the crosshairs of a lunatic intent on revenge.

Dragon — I knew Lilian was still skittish with men. When she asked for my help in learning self-defense, I’d been surprised. When she’s kidnapped, I realize it’s time to bring her home. My home. Whatever it takes, I’ll make sure Lilian knows she’s mine. Even if I have to grovel a little.

EXCERPT:

I pressed a hand to my belly as I came to a stoplight. “I promise I will give you the best life I can. No one will ever hurt you.”

Maybe it was stupid. My parents hadn’t been able to protect me any more than I could keep this child out of the wrong hands. Sometimes Fate just liked to fuck you over. I didn’t remember a lot about my parents, and my memories had become fuzzy over the years. I didn’t know if they’d handed me to the cartel, or if I’d been taken without their knowledge. When I’d been rescued, I’d been offered the chance to go home, but I couldn’t face my parents. They were devout Catholics, and even though I’d been violated and not given up my virginity freely, I hadn’t been certain they’d have seen the difference. To them, I still would have sinned.

So I’d come home with the Devil’s Boneyard and Grizzly, a friend from another club, had taken me into his home. He’d shown me papers that said I was legally his adopted daughter, and he’d had my name changed from Lilian Sanchez to Lilian Moore. He’d offered to let me change my first name, but I’d kept it as a reminder of where I’d come from, and what I’d survived.

A horn honked behind me and I startled, realizing the light had changed at some point. I eased through the intersection and headed for the clubhouse. The Prospect at the gate waved me through and I went straight home. My sister’s car was in the driveway and I was reluctant to go inside. I loved Shella, but there were times she could be a bit trying. All I’d wanted was to shower, change into something comfortable, and relax for a while. Now that didn’t seem likely.

I walked inside and shut the door, only to frown when I heard Shella talking to someone. I hadn’t seen our dad’s bike out front, or anyone else’s, so who did she have over? Creeping closer to the sound of her voice, I stopped when I realized she was on the phone.

“I don’t know why she didn’t tell you, Daddy, but I thought you needed to know.”

She was quiet a moment, and I had a sinking suspicion she was discussing me. What exactly had she told Grizzly while I was gone? And then I heard it. The one name that made it very clear what she was doing.

“Dragon. She said it was Dragon.”

Motherfucker!

I could hear my dad roaring on the other end of the line before Shella hung up. Her eyes were wide when she stared at me.

“What did you do?” I demanded.

“I had to tell him! He needs to know that someone hurt you,” she said, her eyes filling with tears.

Sweet baby Jesus. “Shella, I told you I wasn’t hurt. No one forced me. Dragon tried really hard to walk away, but I wouldn’t let him.”

She hadn’t believed me when I’d told her, but I’d thought I made her understand. It seemed I’d been wrong, and now Grizzly knew one of his patched members had knocked up his daughter. This wasn’t going to end well. There was only one thing I could think to do. Leave. If I wasn’t here, then he couldn’t take his fury out on Dragon. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

I raced upstairs and started tossing things into a bag. I didn’t know where I’d go, or what I’d do, but I needed to get out of here before he came home, and I knew I had precious little time. If he was somewhere inside the compound, he could be here any second. Shella was babbling something at me from the hall, but I shoved past her and went back to my car, tossing my bag into the backseat. After I retrieved my purse and keys from the house, I got in and started the engine, checking the gas gauge. Half a tank. That would get me far enough for the moment.

I slammed my foot on the gas, reversing out of the driveway, then shot forward toward the gates. I didn’t see my dad as I neared the front entrance, and didn’t even try to slow down. The poor Prospect rushed to open the gates before I barreled through them, hitting the road that would lead me out of town and to the highway. My heart was racing and my palms were damp.

What the fuck did you just do?

There wasn’t time to second-guess myself. I’d run, and now I needed to see it through.
