SYNOPSIS
Gracelyn Riley married a firefighter and knew that came with risks. But she never imagined herself widowed in her early thirties with two children to care for on her own. Even though her marriage to Chad Riley had its difficulties, dealing with the last year without him has not been easy. With the year anniversary of Chad’s death upon them, Gracelyn and Matt turn to each for support and comfort. What they didn’t expect was to realize that their feelings for each other go beyond the solid friendship they share. Can they overcome the guilt and the scrutiny of their family and friends to find love together?
MY REVIEW
Yes indeed! This book is inflammable! The passions, the heat, the moments these characters share are extreme. They are trying to act as adults and be responsible, but their hearts will not stand by while they make up their minds.
Jessica Jayne’s story centers around Gracelyn Riley, mother of two children, and Matt Riley, her brother-in law and father of one child. She is recently widowed and he is recently divorced. After his brother’s passing, he has been Gracelyn’s only best friend and a true support during those hard moments. He has been the man in the family, her strong half. The time they spent together brought back the feelings Matt tried so hard to deny. Their attraction manifests pretty quick. But conscience and maturity comes back to bite them. As they struggle to keep their feelings in check, they need to decide if they can proceed with their affection or if it’s better to put an end to it.
I loved the passion between the characters, I loved how the author showed Matt’s struggles and his confusion in all this story. For most part of the book, I even liked the pace the action follows. However, the ending was sudden and rushed and for that I am decreasing one star from my final rating. Also, Gracelyn seemed a little reckless. I know she has dedicated her last year to her children and wanted to do everything for them. But ever since her first intimate encounter with Matt, she is more focused on … performing the deed! I didn’t like that, it was too obvious and too out there. Maybe it’s just me and my opinion, don’t hate me for it.
All in all, I liked the story and I liked the writing, even if I would have wanted a little more responsibility from these two adults. 4 out of 5 stars and my congratulations to the author for such a great story.
