Actress Remi Divine is sick of bodyguards, sick of stalkers, and sick of feeling like she is always under a microscope. But this movie star isn’t helpless by any means. She’s got a rebellious streak, and she knows how to use it. First order of business: getting rid of the overbearing bodyguards who are sticking to her like glue.

Mason Swift has made protecting others his life, and when Remi ditches his two best men, he takes over and gives it everything he has. Having grown up in the foster-care system, and as a former special operative, he knows all the tricks. Nothing gets by him, especially not gorgeous, sneaky Remi.

He thinks she’s a diva. She thinks he’s arrogant. But when sparks turn to flames and their walls come down, their true hearts are revealed, and their connection is unstoppable. And when tragedy strikes, Remi realizes that being protected isn’t the worst thing in the world—but losing Mason just might be.

My Review

The life of a celebrity is never easy. Appearances may be deceiving, danger may be at every corner, but all is good if one has the most handsome bodyguard!

Remi has been under her brother’s constant protection. For a well-known actress, there is no such thing as privacy. When she starts receiving anonymous notes her brother hires one of the best firms to protect her and investigate the case. However, she does the job impossible. This until the head of the agency comes to protect her himself. Mason is taking the job seriously: he protects her, but also teaches her how to minimize risks, while still living her life.

The most beautiful part of this story is how the main characters let down their guard and let each other in. Seeing Mason’s sensitive side is like seeing a crack in an armor. Melissa Foster took her time in developing every reaction and each gesture and for that she deserves all the praise in the world. I also loved the passion they have for their work. Remi’s dedication to her fans is impressive, although quite naïve sometimes. They put their heart and even life into it. Let’s not forget the friendships – the support system they have is great and it makes me feel sorry I haven’t read book 1 yet.

Unfortunately, there is as well one aspect that pushes me back from giving 5 full stars: the mystery. The romance was great, but the conclusion of the stalking case that brought these two together is poor and rushed. The ending was penalized by this aspect and it dragged a lot with other elements (nice elements, but the case could have had a more serious conclusion).

As it happens with all the books that I’ve read until now by Melissa Foster, something is preventing me to give my full rating. However, this is by far my favorite book by her and I cannot wait to complete all the books in the series.

Cover Review: No! While I give all the credits to the handsome guy on the cover, displaying a beautiful smile, It has nothing to do with the seriousness that Mason depicts. I just can’t see it…

Favorite Quote (there were many, but here goes one): “It sounds like they wanted to give you the world without stealing the stars from your eyes.”

Until next time, Happy Reading 🙂

My Review

Lily Anderson is a heroine! She has two kids that give her the worst headache, but she is a devoted mother! I had to get this out of the way… sorry!

Now, “The Family Journal” is such an amazing story. The warmth one feels when reading it, the feeling of Home, the family and love are all in these chapters, at every page turn. I very much enjoyed this book!

Lily Anderson is a single mom, whose kids have taken some very bad habits, at a very young age. The only resource she has left is to move back to her hometown in Comfort, Texas. Her house is rented at the moment, but she comes to an agreement with her tenant – Mack Cooper to live together and split the expenses. Mack is a high school teacher, that has seen his fair share of misbehaved kids. He soon understands that Lily has not had the best of luck when it comes to having a father figure around for her kids. They both set up into a comfortable routine and they quickly lean on each other. All these come naturally. Things just … settle. A beautiful relationship begins, between two mature people, with their own heartbreak to bare. Still this is not the main focus of the story.

The family aspect is present all throughout the book. Not only we see Lily dealing with her two very disobedient children, but we see her learning to say no to them. While this happens, they also go through a family journal that contains the history of the women in their family. Maybe the past will manage to bring mother and daughter together. I wish I had one of these journals.

All in all, this book was amazing to read and feel, because it made me feel so many things and it made me love the characters so much. We have the life in a small town of Texas, with the Southern spirit, we have family and love. “The Family Journal” is by far an intelligent story. It has so many levels and so many beautiful interesting things. I do advise you to read it, it’s actually a “must”. 5 bright shining stars!

Cover Review: Look at these gorgeous flowers! I love the cover! It’s so fitting and beautifully wrapped in that ribbon 😊 Yup, love, love, love it!

Favorite Quote: “Me either, but sometimes a door opens that isn’t really a risk, but an opportunity.”

My Review

These past couple of weeks I’ve been so lucky to read so many amazing books. “A Lie for a Lie” is one of these. With a beautiful second chance romance, intense characters, secrets that may tear a relationship apart and so much more, it’s impossible not to wish for the next book in the series or any written by the author.

Our main characters meet in such a funny way. They click, they connect on many levels and they spend a good amount of time together. What happens when they all have to return to real life and their paths split? Read and find out 🙂

I can tell you about how great the characters are, about how lost I became into the pages. I didn’t know when time flew by. I was so wrapped up in Rook and Lainey I forgot about the real world. But I think the most important thought I was left with is that sometimes you need a breath of fresh air to spot the happiness. Our main characters have secrets they don’t want to share and just want to enjoy the moment. And sometimes this is enough to gain a life full of happy moments. For me, this book that may have just a simple second chance love story, it’s amazing that I was left with this thought, with this feel good thought.

And this is how a romance book should affect its readers. I cannot give less than 5 stars and I cannot wait to read more from the author! I do recommend it, with all my heart.

Book Review: Enamored

About the BookEnamored

Title: Enamored
Author: J.S. Scott
Release Date: October 15, 2019
Publisher: Montlake

Summary

Like his brothers and sisters, Seth Sinclair went from blue-collar to billionaire overnight, and he’s decided to invest in what he knows best: construction. There’s only one thing in his way—the endangered birds nesting on a piece of prime beachfront real estate. And fighting for the birds is Riley Montgomery, a stubborn, pain-in-the-ass, drop-dead-gorgeous environmental lawyer. The worst part? Seth will do anything to keep her around—even if it means hiring her to be his fake girlfriend.

With a cause to fight for, Riley agrees to Seth’s scheme. If she keeps the superficial women away from Seth, then he’ll leave the wildlife sanctuary alone. But pretending to be his girlfriend comes with ground rules: No ass grabbing. And absolutely no sex. Ever. The problem? The sexual tension sizzles when they’re together.

Seth isn’t so keen on Riley’s rules, but he’ll keep his word, at least until she decides otherwise. But bringing Riley into his circle has brought her past back to haunt her in ways that neither of them expected. Now it’s less about broken rules and more about broken hearts, and Seth will do whatever it takes to protect the woman he loves.

My Review

Ok, the most important questions are: Where have I been?! Am I not involved so deep in the bookish community? Have I been blind not to see this series around?! Because this third book is absolutely fantastic! I cannot imagine the previous two, but I can definitely add them to my TBR.

Seth and Riley seem to have different motives behind their actions. They have a conflict and they need to solve it somehow. His next construction project is affecting an endangered species of birds. Funny thing is they reach an agreement in which she is his fake girlfriend. Now, who has more to gain, remains to be seen, since Riley has her own demons to fight and bad memories to keep at bay.

The two of them are amazing. They are clearly an adult couple, no childish attitude and with a mind set on the objective to accomplish. Seth’s however changes. With his sight set on the beautiful lawyer, he is hell bent on winning her trust and heart. His strength will give her the confidence she needs. The attraction they have, the connection, it’s so well described.

The author has managed to transpose the feelings into words and I was able to empathize with our characters. This, combined with a great plot, a hero and a heroine worth every page, it’s a recipe for success. So I feel compelled to give 5 stars. I MUST make sure I get my hands on the series and I do advise you to do the same. “Enamored” can be read as a standalone, but I am convinced the other books are at least as amazing as this one. Enjoy and happy reading!
