Hello book lovers, Happy Monday!
Welcome back to another Monday quote! The lines I have for you today are form a book I plan on finishing these days, as it’s long overdue. I’ve already posted another quote I really loved, but I just can’t stop! I love the writing, I love the story, I love the emotions… oh! This book! This series!!!!
This is from “Unravel Me” by Tahereh Mafi:
“Bullshit.” He laughs a short, sharp, angry laugh. “All you do is sit around and think about your feelings. You’ve got problems. Boo-freaking-hoo,” he says. “Your parents hate you and it’s so hard but you have to wear gloves for the rest of your life because you kill people when you touch them. Who gives a shit?” He’s breathing hard enough for me to hear him. “As far as I can tell, you’ve got food in your mouth and clothes on your back and a place to pee in peace whenever you feel like it. Those aren’t problems. That is called living like a king. And I’d really appreciate it if you’d grow the hell up and stop walking around like the world crapped on your toilet paper. Because it’s stupid,” he says, barely reining in his temper. “It’s stupid and it’s ungrateful. You don’t have a clue about what anyone else in the world is going through right now. You don’t have a clue, Juliette. And you don’t seem to give a damn, either.”
Yeah, it’s long, but these words feel empowering somehow. We all have problems, some other people may have bigger ones. A miss may have broken her nail and it hurts because she spent so many days and probably minutes pending that perfect nail and now it’s gone. Our problems are the most important ones, doesn’t matter if somewhere someone has a bigger issue to deal with. However, we need to pick ourselves up and move on. That nail will grow, our mood must change so that we can paint another perfect picture, another perfect design on that nail. We need to stand tall and fight for what we want to achieve and we need to start building the persona we want to become.
It’s easier said than done, but it can be done… somehow. Right?
Until next time, Happy Reading!
