From #1 New York Times bestselling phenomenon Sylvia Day comes a hotly anticipated and passionate new love story.
Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future.
Then Garrett Frost moves in next door.
He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him. Garrett would be risky in any form, but wounded, he’s far more dangerous. I fear I’m too fragile for the storm raging inside him, too delicate to withstand the pain that buffets him. But he’s too determined…and too tempting.
And sometimes hope soars above even the iciest desolation.
Emotional and heartrending, Butterfly in Frost marks a brilliant return by global sensation Sylvia Day, the #1 international multimillion bestselling author of the Crossfire saga.

Let me start by admitting that I have never read a book by Sylvia Day. She has been on my “authors to read” and I have a full list of her books but I’ve never gotten around to actually read them.
“Butterfly in Frost” is a short, yet complicated story. Our main characters, Teagan and Garrett, meet when her friend’s dog runs into him. From the start, Garrett is pushy and just too confident. He rather forces himself into her life and, when she gives into her charm, a beautiful romance starts. But the book is not just a hot love story, as there is so much more going on with our protagonists.
Her past stays mostly hidden, but we get a glimpse of what Garrett has been through. She’s willing to help, but Teagan has her own depression to deal with. Speaking of which, it is best to mention that if you have any form of anxiety or any form of depression, there are scenes in the book that may send you in an … emotional state. The twist in the end is something that I did not see coming and it puts everything in a different perspective.
There were several things I enjoyed and some that I did not quite like. On a positive note, I loved how well the author created emotions. There were raw states of despair, pure fragility and pain. This was the wow factor for me. The author did not shy away from showing how a traumatizing event can shatter a man and a woman, as well as a couple. She was also not afraid to point out how others treat people with anxiety or depression and how some tend to see in this a reason of embarrassment. Initially, I was enraged, but then I understood the reality in those reactions or opinions.
On the not so positive side, I did not like Garrett’s arrogance and persistent personality. He was annoying and rude, always assuming he knew exactly what Teagan wanted. The reveal in the end explained some things, but it did not make much sense when it comes to her past.
All in all, while I really enjoyed the writing, the emotions and even how Garrett and Teagan rediscovered each other, he was irritating and the ending left some holes.
Cover Review: I did not feel the connection with the blue on the cover. I like the butterfly reference, but the blue? I don’t feel the connection with the book. Maybe I missed something. The cover is anyhow delicate and beautiful.
Favorite Quote: “It’s a brutally sad fact that a number of people simply disappear from your life when you’re broken and need them the most. “

Note: Dealing with any form of mental illness is not a reason to shame someone. You learn to live with anxiety, or depression, or both, you learn to handle every day because you never know what mood you’d be in or what could send you in chaos. Unfortunately, most of us deal with everything on our own because we feel guilt, we are afraid or ashamed, or judged. It’s a pressure that we DON’T NEED! Be open minded, be patient, or stop!
