A swoony, age gap, brother’s best friend, runaway bride romance from bestselling author, Chelle Sloan.

What happens when a dream wedding turns into a complete nightmare?

Horrible Dress – Check

No Flowers – Check

A cheating groom pretending to be my Prince Charming –  Check

What should have been a highlight of my life turned into me becoming a runaway bride after seeing my fiancé doing something no bride should ever see.

And instead of celebrating my marriage at my reception with my loved ones and adoring new husband, I’m getting drunk at a dive bar with a handsome stranger.

A stranger who shows up at my brother’s beach house, where I’m spending my honeymoon – alone.

But it turns out that my handsome stranger isn’t a real stranger at all. Emmett Collins is also my brother’s best friend and business partner.

I never pictured myself wanting a man like Emmett in his country boy jeans. But he turns out to be exactly who and what I need.

Two weeks. That’s what we’ve given ourselves. It’s the perfect vacation fling. He doesn’t do relationships and my life is…well…a mess is putting it lightly.

There’s just a few problems. Emmett makes me feel safe. His quiet smile lights me up inside. And that first time he kisses me? He brings out butterflies I never knew I could feel.

I think I’m falling in love with a man who doesn’t believe in forever.

And there’s no guide to love for that.

Runaway Bride’s Guide to Love by Chelle Sloan is a delightful contemporary romance that explores the unexpected twists of love and life. The story follows Hannah, a bride who finds herself fleeing her own wedding after finding out that her relationship was a lie. On her wedding day, she ends up in a bar, where she meets a stranger willing to listen to her story and even watch over her drunken state. Little did she expect to see the kind gentlemen a few days later – he was none other than her brother’s best friend and business partner Emmett Collins. They agree on enjoying a vacation together, after which they will go their separate way.

What starts as a spontaneous escape turns into a heartwarming journey of self-discovery and unexpected love. Emmett, with his charming country boy persona, helps Hannah heal and find joy again. Despite their initial agreement to keep things casual, their undeniable chemistry and deepening connection challenge their beliefs about love and forever. He allows her true self to come out and slowly manages to restore her confidence, while Hannah will show him how good of a partner he can truly be.

Hannah’s journey from heartbreak to healing is both relatable and inspiring. Her interactions with Emmett are not just about romance, but also about rediscovering herself and her own worth. Emmett, on the other hand, is not just a love interest, but a catalyst for Hannah’s growth. His patience and understanding make him an ideal partner, and their slow-burn romance is both realistic and enchanting.

The supporting characters, including Hannah’s brother and the few appearances of Emmett’s sister, add depth to the story, creating a rich tapestry of relationships that make the narrative even more compelling. The author’s knack for capturing the nuances of human emotions and relationships, while combining them with humorous scenes, shines through.

Favorite quote: I might love my shoes, but I’ll throw one like a ninja star if the situation calls for it.

Cover review: I am not a fan of illustrated covers. It makes the book childish, even if it may treat serious themes. Moving past my general opinion, I can see one of the most important elements discussed in the book: the shoes! It makes me smile, so it’s a good thing.

All in all, I loved it! It was funny, heartwarming and even spicy at times. It has a powerful message, when it comes to not giving up on your personality or even believing that sometimes, the apple may fall a bit farther from the tree.
