The plan was to collect everything I could on the Bonetti Brothers and take them down. As an Assistant District Attorney, I wanted to keep the community safe from this mafia family. More than that, I was looking for revenge. Little did I know the way the tables would turn. I didn’t see him coming. The man with the nickname that matches him to a ’T’. If he finds out the secret I’m hiding, he’ll end me quickly. Massimo Bonetti was my first crush, but now he’s the enemy.

The only thing worse than a random person coming after them is someone they once trusted.

Pretty little lamb you should not have come into the wolf’s den.

She wanted to know more about the Bonetti Brothers. Her wish is my command. The pretty little counselor will learn firsthand that you do not fuck with us.

One, two, Psycho is coming for you.
Three, four, your blood will coat my floor.
Five, six, you’ll beg to live.
Seven, eight, it’s too late.
Nine, ten, scream for me again.

Anastasia Crowne, the young ADA, wants to destroy everything we’ve built. She’s an eager little lamb that walked into the wolf’s den. This wolf is hungry. Famished. She’ll be mine to torture for weeks, if not months. When I get bored, it’ll be over for her.

The fourth book in the Bonetti Brothers follows Massimo, aka Psycho, becoming obsessed with the ADA looking to ruin his family. Anastasia Crowne wants revenge for her father’s murder. Her life took a turn into nightmare since his passing and the thought of putting the Bonetti behind bars would sooth her pain.

Both characters are complex and with a past that has shaped them in more ways than we could imagine. By the end of the book, they slowly meet half way. His level of crazy is contagious, but her courage and love will make his heart beat again. There is a high dose of psychology in their development, but more in what Anastasia is concerned. She has had to deal with adult issues at a very young age. Her mother embraced the grief to a point that she become barely functional. Anastasia took it upon herself to provide for both. An abusive (verbally and physically) relationship made her stronger, her will to survive for her remaining family member becoming the most important feeling.

Psycho has been surrounded by violence all his life. With his family part of the Mafia, enemies always came after them and children were not an exception. The author explains his violent side as being a consequence of his lifestyle, without getting too much into the details. His obsession for the ADA will be his undoing and when it becomes clear he’s not willing to let her go, he unknowingly allows love settle in.

The darkenss fills your heart and never leaves. You somehow manage to keep breathing, even when you don’t want to. The pain never leaves. It’s always there, and all-consuming. The only thing possibly worse than the oain is itself is the guilt.

The characters in the other books appear as well, but the story is solely focused on Psycho and his now new toy. Still, it was interesting seeing bits and pieces from the other couples.

Many things make this book interesting, but there are some that define it. Grief and its effects take a central position. Asking for professional help is essential. Our past leaves us marked. We are the result of our joys and traumas. “Psycho” shows this in such a beautiful way. I would add here corruptions, as one of the other main themes. An Assistant District Attorney works against the system to bring criminals to justice. She faces the realities of influence and the feeble human character. It is made clear that there are many grey variations.

If you’re the poisonous apple, I want to devour you. If you’re my undoing, I welcome it. You can be angry with me, little lamb. As long as you scream my name.

The writing was so beautiful and full of emotions. Chelle Rose has a mesmerizing way with words. The plot is fast paced, with some expected turns, but not completely. The author hints at some things, but doesn’t let out the full story until the right moment.

I was fascinated by the complexity of our female main character. Anastasia rises from the ashes several times in the book and the plot evolution goes in line with her development.

I would have wanted a gentler transition between Psycho’s vengeful side and the soft one. His inability to recognize her was a bit strange and I would have preferred to have this explained more. As for Anastasia, for an ADA who has thoroughly studied the Bonetti family, she was reckless and even naive to believe that they would not have people in their pocket.

Cover Review: I love the cover! It’s dark, dangerous and seductive. The different combinations of black and grey and the smoke effect in the title… Beautiful!

I loved the book a lot and I love Chelle Rose’s writing. She has several series out there -and, if you enjoy dark romance, she is a must-read author.  “Psycho “did not disappoint at all!
