Alf has tried to banish her demons. And her ghosts. But memories of her recent past linger and keep her awake. Every night it’s the same. Insomnia. When she does eventually drift off, she’s woken almost immediately by a sobbing spirit. He says he’s lost. And worse than that, someone is trying to kill him.
Who is this sad specimen of a spirit? And where does he belong? And how do you kill someone … who is already dead?
Find out what Alf gets up to next as the Wonky Inn adventures continue.

Alfhild Daemonne (Alf)’s adventures continue in Jeannie Wycherley’s The Ghosts of Wonky Inn (Book 2 in the Wonky Inn series), a delightful blend of paranormal mystery and supernatural intrigue
Still haunted by her past and mending a broken heart, Alf finds herself disturbed night after night by a sobbing spirit. This ghost insists he is lost and claims someone is trying to kill him. But how do you murder someone who is already dead? This premise sets the tone for another magical narrative.
But that’s not the only thing Alf has to deal with. She still has an inn to open, and this means finding the right staff. Struggling to control her spirit guests, as well as dealing with a meddling great-grandmamma, Alf will have to learn to use the tools and people (and ghosts) around her.
The author balances humor with tension and continues Alf’s growth. If in book one she embraces her magic, in book two we see her accepting the ghosts and even working with them. The inn itself is a character and a universe, wonky and whimsical. You will be drawn into a world where village life and restless spirits collide, creating a cozy yet eerie atmosphere.
Same as for the previous book, we have again the blend of cozy mystery and paranormal fantasy. Jeannie Wycherley has created a story that is spooky but comforting, perfect for readers who enjoy magical realism with a touch of humor. The pacing keeps you hooked, and Alf’s character development adds emotional depth to the supernatural plot.
Kim Bretton’s narration is superb, to say the least. She introduces new accents, and by now, I can safely say she is the narrator with the most variations in her voice I have ever had the pleasure to listen to. I am eager to see what other challenges the remaining books will offer her.
Cover Review: Following the same style as book one, we see our witch, with the crying ghost, as well as the owl – all elements (beings, or… you get what I mean) present in the book. It passes my preference 😊 love it!
If you’re looking for a series that mixes witches, ghosts, and quirky English countryside charm, The Ghosts of Wonky Inn is a must-read. It’s ideal for fans of cozy mysteries, paranormal fiction, and anyone who loves a dash of magic in their reading life.
Until next time, happy reading!
