Join me every Monday for a new bookish quote, handpicked to inspire readers who love starting the week with emotional morals.

It’s week two of 2026, and we are back to posting quotes every week. Not a Routine Reunion by Violette Sage has been the last book I’ve read in 2025 and has become one of my top 3 books of the year. I look forward to sharing the full review with you, but until then, I’m coming to you with my favorite quote.

The quote

Don’t be stupid, Summer. A broken heart can keep breaking. Even after it shatters into pieces, each tiny shard can be crushed even more, until it’s dust.

Why this quote matters

There are so many elements worth analyzing in this quote. It speaks of a broken heart that can go through even more suffering. The usage of strong, evocative words such as “shard” or “dust”, as well as the acts of shattering or crushing give depth to the pain and torture one’s heart can endure.

This is just one of the many, many quotes from this book that found a place in my memories journal. Violette Sage has an amazing way to show emotions and more! The reader feels what the characters are going through. Like in the quote above, you can almost hear the shattering, you feel the sting of the shards, and you go through continuous pain, through several crushing actions, until your heart becomes dust. Beautiful and powerful.

Closing Note

It’s been a hot minute since I enjoyed a romance story as much as Not a Routine Reunion. Violette Sage has become one of my favorite authors, and I am excited to read more of her stories. They are emotional, beautifully written, and with main characters who go through a lot to grow.
