A woman without a past
Left amnesiac after an accident, Amelia Jamison’s instincts slowly rise from the depths of oblivion to question her life as the wife of a cold, manipulating and distant man. Wisps of a dream show her another man she may have known intimately, but is he a memory, or a figment of her imagination?
A man with too much information
After many aliases, today Gerard Besson is simply a police commissaire in Marseille. When a mysterious woman starts to follow him, he is suspicious. But things aren’t what they seem, and as he reluctantly gets closer to her, dredges of his painful, buried past spring to light and make him question her identity.
Each seems to have led two different lives
But neither is prepared for what awaits them when they cross the fine line between knowing your true self and that of your alter ego.
Danger is the name of the game, and as it catches up with them in the French Provence, both know they better be ready for the inevitable fall.
Finally a book where a woman has to do all the work. Well, most of it anyway. In this story, the heroine has to uncover who she is, has to fight to recover her past, survive the present and build a future. She is strong, determined and extremely brave. She has to fight not only to survive, but to create a life away from drug cartels and guns, next to the ones she loves.
Amelia Jamison wakes up in a hospital after being in a terrible accident that left her with no memory of who she is. She also suffered damage to her face and body, thus plastic surgery has altered her real appearance. She now lives a perfect life, with a husband who provides for her, even if she has to take daily pills for her memory. All until one night when she remembers her lover and much to her surprise, it’s not her husband. Since she does not receive the needed answers from him, once putting a name to the face she dreamed, Amelia embarks in a journey to understand who she really is. First step is to find Commisaire Gerard Besson, her mystery lover. Maybe he can shed light to her dark mind.
A story with action at every page turn, “Walking the Edge” combines very nicely thriller and romance elements. I was not bored at all reading it. It gave me an immense pleasure to uncover the mystery behind Amelia and see if she manages to have the sense of reality she so desperately longs for. Both main characters are complex and well balanced, but the same can be said about the other ones.
Amelia appears as the frail wife trying her best to remember her life with her husband but as soon as she understands there is more to her life, instinct takes over and she is surprised by her own actions. Seeing that Gerard is not able to recognize her, she is willing to take extreme measures to travel back to her past. The author manages to create a strong woman, one who is not easily scared or fooled, confident and intelligent.
Comissaire Gerard Besson is still mourning the loss of his lover Mirka. His attempts to catch the Russian drug cartel are fueled not only by his desire to put the bad guys behind bars but also by revenge. When Amelia shoes up, he is not convinced by her story, but before taking the decision to trust her or not he investigates her life. He does not leave anything pass his detective skills.
I can say that the author paid great attention to details, leaving nothing at random and adding the correct dosage of love, action and mystery. I loved it and recommend it to all the fans of the thriller + romance combination.
About the Author:
Zee is an author who grew up on a fence – on one side there was modernity and the global world, on the other there was culture and traditions. Putting up with the culture for half of her life, one day she decided she’d stand tall on her wall and dip toes every now and then into both sides of her non-conventional upbringing.
