My Review:
The first book in the “Unnatural Alliances” starts off with just the right amount needed to wish for the next book. I was lucky to be contacted by the publisher and offered to read ad review the first and second (yey!!!!) books. Starting with “To Trust a Wolf”, here we go:
Any PNR fan will appreciate the mix between smart and funny ladies, werewolves, vampires and a sweet dose of mystery. I started building my own scenario ever since Rune Helsen enters. With the way he inspects the new collection on display only for private tours at the museum Helen works, it builds up a certain atmosphere, gives the reader that state of mind where you just cannot stop!
The main characters form an extraordinary couple. Helen is funny and has a normal womanlike attitude, with our usual preoccupations and “so serious problems” (shoes, clothes etc). But she is smart and has a kindness which is somehow felt from the pages. Rune captures her attention with his strong posture, his determination and domination. He does not ask questions, he demands, but not in a rude of aggressive way. Danielle Hardgrave has done a wonderful way of paring these two together.
The plot centers around the Cutler Hoard collection, which is somehow part of the Viking history. For one reason or another, werewolves and vampires are after parts from it. I loved how the action was built, but somehow I would have wanted more details about the pieces, about Vikings and about the negative character as well.
All in all, this was a great short story, that had me enveloped since the very beginning. Now I just cannot wait to share with you my review for book no. 2 “Sleuthing with the Enemy”, but this will be a different article J “Unnatural Alliances” is for sure a series to follow, if you like the unseen world of wolves and vamps. Enjoy!
About the Author
Danielle Hardgrave can find romance anywhere. While obtaining her History degree, she spent more time than she’d care to admit speculating on the love lives of famous historical tyrants.
She was born and raised in Victoria, BC, a small coastal city on a small island in the giant country of Canada. She spends most of her time writing, reading, or getting into trouble with her roommate.
Caldwell Publishing is the result of two sets of talent and one dream. It combines the writing of Danielle Hardgrave with the design expertise of Olivia Conway. The result? Sizzling tales of romance to help you slip away from reality—if only for a little while.
