Before discussing Book 2 in the series, let’s talk a little about Book 1. The team at Barclay was kind enough to provide a copy of “Discovering You” so that I can review the series in a proper manner 🙂
A series in which history blends with modern times and two souls who seem to be destined for one another come together by a twist of faith. Through her job at a museum, Lucy touches a cross that seems to carry a secret buried by time. Little of that is described in the Prologue and I could not wait to find out what happens in modern times. After the unsettling flash backs she has, she meets Justin, with whom the connection is almost instant. But sometimes things are not that easy. Justin is a rock star, with plans for his career, while Lucy wants to settle into a quiet life.
Their story has so many premises to go wrong. There are so many things and people that become obstacles in the way of their relationship. I’m referring here not only to their hopes for the future, but also to their background. Difficult family members, jealous ex-girlfriends and when you think they have it all, the Incident happens! However, I loved their determination and how Justin is so decided on making this last.
The writing is beautiful and easy and the characters are full of surprises. It was difficult to predict their reactions, even if at some point I was so tired of the many things that went wrong. We have a cliff hanger and I was lucky to have book 2 for my happy soul! A beautiful start for a beautiful series!
“Waiting for You” is like an explosion of events and emotions in the Indigo series. There are so many things going on and there is a twist there that I would have never predicted. I was addicted to Lucy and Justin’s relationship and I read every chapter looking forward for the next!
After “Discovering You”, they fall apart and unfortunately others got their way, so the couple could not be together. However, history and life has other plans and there may be something left for them. Finally we see more of the history of the cross that brings them together in book 1 and finally they have one small moment of tranquility. But this is enough for their relationship to grow stronger and to connect on more levels than one.
Justin is the same protective guy we’ve met, but Lucy is a little changed. She has been through a lot, even if he is trying to keep her away from scandals. I like her evolution and I like how they fit together.
Kate McBrien has done such a wonderful job with “waiting for You”. It has a lot of action, it has love and passion and so many other emotions. I was reading and reading until the wee hours of the night and that says something about this author’s gifts. The problem is that the next book comes out next year and… that’s a lot of time to wait for the conclusion.
When a book hooks you, that’s a great sign. Check the series out, but be warned of the cliff hangers and triggers – included in the blurb as well. The books are not too long, you can quickly go through them, though I would suggest you take the time to savor every page. Happy Reading!
