Happy Sunday!

I have no idea where July and August went. Things at the office have been crazy and I simply lost track of time. I seem to have skipped any form of closing for July, so I am calling this a summer wrap up. I read less than I would have expected, but that is because I’ve been working on a project of which I hope to tell you more in the coming days, but for the past months I have read a total of 5 books ( 😦 ).

Grave Robber by Skye McNeil is done and finished. I have not yet posted the review as I need some things to sink in. I wanted so much more from the story and I got less than I was expected. I still enjoyed it a lot though. I need to gather my thoughts for now.

The next book finished is Dear Grumpy Boss (The Harder They Fall #1) by Julia Wolf. I liked it, there are a lot of themes mixed and not that much happening, but it was a good book. If you want my thoughts, check out my full review here.

The author Anastasia Petrenko was kind enough to gift me with a copy of her recent book Be Your Own Guru: 34 Essays on Figuring Out Life. I loved it so so much! I will have a full review up this week, so I won’t say anything else for now – come back Wednesday to find out more.

Book number four is Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi. I still need to get my head around this book. It drives me insane! I love it so much! I cannot wait to post my review !

The last book for this season is From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I love the Lux series and unfortunately it was the first and last series I read by this author. For the coming period I need a full catch up of J. L. Armentrout’s books. All! “From Blood and Ash is book 1 in the Blood and Ash series and I’ve listened to the audiobook, I have book 2 already added on my TBR for September (I’m already 4 chapters in). I am a little bit disappointed by the characters, but I know this is a long series, so I am hoping all will be for the best until the final book. I will keep you updated!

With summer gone (although the current weather would not agree with this statement), I have a busy September coming, with a lot of books on my reading list. I did manage to plan my days a bit better and I seem to be back to my routine of reading like the addict that I am. I have 9 books planned and at least one is over 400 pages:

  • A Seat for the Rabble (A King Without a Crown #1) by Ryan Schuette – this is an epic fantasy that will be released September 22nd. The author was kind enough to send me a e-ARC. The cover is beautiful, the story sounds intense and I cannot wait to read it
  • The Thief and the Historian (The Runetree Chronicles #1) by Brendan Corbett – a YA Fantasy released this year in June. I was intrigued by the combination of history, theft and magic, so when the author approached me for a review, I could not say no.
  • Cursebreakers by Madeline Nakamura – adult fantasy releasing September 12ve. It’s late and I have not started it yet, so I need to get myself moving along with my current read. I’ve received an e-ARC from the publisher (Canis Major Books), the main character is a professor who somehow ends up in a fight to save the city from a curse, while also dealing with his own mental health. This is a debut novel and I cannot wait to read it 🙂
  • Before the Sunset by Laura Pavlov – this is a contemporary romance, fake relationship, best friends to lovers involving an actor, trying to clean up his reputation, and his best friend trying to show her ex she’s long past their relationship. Sound like fun!
  • The Ice Kiss by L. Steele – a sports romance, also fake relationship but with forced proximity. She is the PR manager for a hockey team and ends up living with the team’s captain in a one bed flat. Interesting! the ARC is still to be received, I hope I will be selected for it.

The next books should have been years ago but… it’s no use to dwell on the past.

  • The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood – this has been all over the internet in 2021. I recently (a few months ago) bought it… I should get on reading it, I am already some years late.
  • Ignite Me (Shatter me #3) by Tahereh Mafi –  I need to finish the series pronto! I have a habit of starting and not finishing series…

As mentioned in the beginning of this article, I plan on catching up on Jennifer L. Armentrout’s series. For September I will continue listening to the Blood and Ash series – book 2 is From Flesh and Fire. I hope I won’t be disappointed, but for now, Lux is still my favorite series of hers.

The last book on my TBR is My Dark Romeo by Parker S. Huntington and L. J. Sheen. This author duo has been really famous, but I haven’t read any of their books. Let’s see if September is the month I start.

I also have a beta project due in the first week of September and I’ve started being active on a platform for new authors, also as a beta reader.

I cannot wait to share with you my thoughts on these books and the many other activities I have going on. Let me know if the comments below what are your reading plants for the coming months or your thoughts on any of the books I’ve mentioned in this article. Until next time, happy reading!
