A peek at the books I’m planning to read next. Join me for reviews, reflections, and new TBR ideas.
December has been a month of reflection for me. Between planning my next steps for the book blog, for my editing journey, and sorting out my volunteer positions, there was a lot of work to be done. So my monthly reading wrap-up for the final month of the year is not as important as my TBR for January.
If strategy occupied the end of last year, intention and determination led my way into 2026. You’ll find a mix of books on my list for this month. I have romance, fantasy, and even two non-fiction books. I am excited for all, and scared at the same time. My ambition of having long TBRs is a tradition I have not given up in 2026.
Last month’s reading wrap-up

I have a few books to mention, and I am quite happy. Considering the amount of time spent on building systems for this year, I think I did a decent job.
The Ghosts of Wonky Inn by Jeannie Wycherley
The story follows a witch who has inherited a dilapidated inn. Every book in the series shows Alf’s adventures with the strange building, and this book brings us several other ghosts. Our main character will have to learn to work with her spirits and figure out why one of them keeps getting killed, over and over again.
I’ve posted a review for it at the beginning of the month. It’s a fun story, perfect for a relaxing time. It leans into cozy mystery, not that much of a romance element.
Rockin’ My Muse: A Second Chance Holiday Romance by Kristin Lee
This has been the only holiday romance I managed to read in December. Kristin Lee has released it on December 22nd and already has 74 reviews on Amazon. The story follows Delilah and Diesel (John), who reconnect after years of being apart. She is in charge of restoring Diesel’s band to its former glory, and when they meet at one of their concerts, the feelings reignite.
It’s a quick read, not more than one day, if you stay committed 😊 read my full review for more of my thoughts.
More books, not reviewed yet
There are a few more books I did not get to review – I’ll be doing that during January:
- Weird Wedding at Wonky Inn (Wonky Inn Series #3) by Jeannie Wycherley
- Fearful Fortunes and Terrible Tarot (Wonky Inn Series #4) by Jeannie Wycherley
- Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3) by Sarah J. Maas
- Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass #4) by Sarah J. Maas
- Not a Routine Reunion (Not Another Romance #3) by Violette Sage – my favorite book for December!
This month’s TBR
Already four days into January, and I’ve finished a book I’ve been so excited to read and even started a second one. But let me tell you what I am planning to read this month and show you my mix of genres as well:
- Irresistibly Yours (Purrfectly Yours, #1) by Vicky Zarielle
- Sassily Yours (Purrfectly Yours, #2) by Vicky Zarielle
- Cross Your Heart and Hope He Dies by Jenny Elder Moke
- Picnics and Promises at Strawberry Fields by Victoria Walters
- After the Crash (Brookhaven Lakes #1) by Sofia Jade
- Scars of August (The August Series #1) by Ashley Pierce
- Driving the Bugmobile by Alan Orloff
- Ikigai: The Japanese secret to a long and happy life by Hector Garcia & Francesc Miralles
- My Very Wicked Hero (Rough and Ready #6) by Kate Perry
- On Borrowed Time (Blossom Peak #2) by Harlow James
- What Editors Do: The Art, Craft & Business of Book Editing by Peter Ginna
- Kingdom of Ash (Throne of Glass Series #7) by Sarah J. Maas
- The Arcana Academy (Arcana Academy #1) by Elise Kova
What I am prioritizing this month
December did not allow me to complete all my commitments, and that is something I vowed not to let happen from now on. So, I must finish those projects first:
- beta reads: I have one pending to complete from December and one that needs to be finished by the 10th of January. The books cannot be more different, so hopefully they will be an interesting shift.
- content pulls: I have two content pulls left from last month, one of which is for one of the beta reads.
- author interviews: I have 3 author spotlight articles under works. You will meet three amazing writers and get to know their vision a bit better.
