Book Review: Darkness Falls

First off, I’d like to mention that I’ve received a free e-copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review and I’d like to hope that the version I’ve received was before the editing. The story has great potential, I mean amazing potential! It has something from everything: witches, vampires, werewolves, guardians that can manipulate the elements, a seer, romance, adventure… you name it! I noticed also that on other sites like Amazon for instance it has very good references. The problem is that I do believe the version I have is not edited.

 There were characters which appeared in just one scene and did not shape in any way the action of the story. So I am not sure what their purpose was. Also, Rachel’s parents were supposed to have some abilities too, but we don’t see them using their powers much. The plot line could also use some changes. Once scene comes to mind: Rachel foresees the big fight happening but when then nothing happens. I don’t know.. I didn’t understand that.

 Regarding the characters, they did not seem that believable to me. Rachel always tries to help, but her parents and guardians refuse to give her a chance to defend herself. The romance part of the story is treated very superficial  and has some weird moments: Rachel’s parents don’t want her to sleep in the same room as her boyfriend (which is quite ok) but when she in injured, one of them suggest the boyfriend should help with the undressing part.

 There are many issues with this version of the book, but I can tell you for sure there is potential here! Just some editing needed. For the moment, I can only congratulate the author for the idea, but not for the way it was put in words.
