My Review:

There are some small things that I notice about a book when I’m trying to decide how many stars it should have. Did it make me think about something powerful like life, death or love? Did it have more than its obvious meaning? Did the writing appeal to my senses? Well, some of the answers to these questions made me decide to go with five stars for this story.

Let’s start with some background. After her break up with her longtime boyfriend, Joss is willing to put everything she has into her career, to forget about her ex and relationships. Good way of saying “bye bye” and maybe get some revenge is to have a one night stand with a hot guy at a club. Who would have thought that their paths will cross again? They both want a onetime only thing no strings attached. So when life brings them together again they have a hard time not to wish for a repeat of that night. Problem is he is her boss and she works in a police department, trying to maintain a clean reputation.

The story maybe simple even predictable, the hot scenes are there, Maddox pushes things to a different level and Josh is willing to comply in exchange for some excellent time together. Maybe because she is willing to accept the challenge, maybe because she wants to explore or simply because he makes her feel beautiful, sensual, wanted, needed. And he’s not willing to push her away since she’s not scared of his personality; of his unattachment. The other offers some great insight into their feelings into their desires and fears.

There are also some other things which are present throughout the book – this is why I was mentioning in the beginning that this may seem an easy book but in reality it covers a lot more. First of all we have sexual relationships between an employee and her boss, which is definitely a source for gossip. Then we have Alzheimer’s and how it affects more the people around the sick person then that person himself/herself. And last but not least, both Jossie and Maddox are influenced by their upbringing. She’s trying to follow in her father’s footsteps from a career perspective, while Maddox is still affected by being raised only by his father, not understanding why his mother left.

The last argument that justifies my 5 Stars is the writing. I have highlighted a lot of lines that went straight to my soul, or lines that made me laugh. Some words may be simple but the emotions hidden behind them are difficult to describe. Also I was mentioning the great insight into the psychology of each character. It is my honest opinion that Stacey Kennedy has done a great job when writing this book.

Without any other comments, I do recommend to give “Heartbreaker” a chance.  It is absolutely amazing, it brings not only some amazing hot scenes but also a great love story with some powerful things on the side. Feel free to check my Goodreads page for my favorite quotes in this book.
