When a wild mustang is shot in Montana, renowned horse whisperer and telepath, Emma Horserider, is called in to calm the herd and find out what happened. Once on scene she is almost killed by a bullet-spewing drone, and calls her black ops brother for back-up.

Emma’s help roars into her life covered in tattoos and riding a Harley. Remote viewer Bronco Winchester takes the assignment because he is ordered to, but he wonders what type of assistance, his boss’s sister needs. That is until he sees Emma, a valiant Warrior Woman proud of her Crow heritage.

Posing as a married couple, Emma and Bronco go undercover to infiltrate and stop a hate group. Both are anxious enough without the now growing attachment they feel for one another. When the lives of many are on the line, they are not sure if they will live or die—let alone have a chance at love.

My Review:

This is not my first book by Sharon Buchbinder, so when I was provided an ARC for “Legacy of Evil” I knew what I was getting myself into. And that is: another good story. As per usual however, this is my  first book from the series, but I had no issues reading it as a standalone, even if some of the other characters have a background story. So yes, I liked it.

Emma and Bronco are an interesting couple, with more things in common that they may see at first. Since the blurb does not disclose the paranormal item of the story, I’ll try to keep it at a distance as well. But I can tell you is that when someone attacks and kills some of Emma’s best friends – the horses – she decides to take actions into her own hands and find out who is behind it. To her luck (not aid, because she can manage on her own, of course), her brother sends reinforcements. Bronco is one of his best agents, with experience in undercover missions and this comes in handy when they do try to identify the bad guys.

Now, even if they are both stubborn, a connection forms from the beginning, when their animal companions approve of each other. His cat likes her, her dogs like him. They both have a connection with them that goes beyond the normal one. There are some hot scenes in there (and I mean HOT) which are off the top. I liked how the romance element was included.

Now, I did not award 5 stars because there are some items that did not stand well with me. The start was a little slow, in my opinion and they start to like each other pretty fast. With all her stubbornness, she accepts Bronco’s help. And I also did not like the beginning scene, with the drone attack… I don’t know why, the drone in a book with horses and cats looks… out of the picture.

So a total of 3.5 stars to this book, with my congratulations to the author for a great story. I like her writing style and how she combines all elements, even if in this case there were small things that were not to my taste. All in all, I do recommend the series, preferably starting with book 1 J Enjoy

About the Authorsharon

After working in health care delivery for years, Sharon Buchbinder became an association executive, a health care researcher, and an academic in higher education. She had it all–a terrific, supportive husband, an amazing son and a wonderful job. But that itch to write (some call it an obsession) kept beckoning her to “come on back” to writing fiction. Thanks to the kindness of family, friends, critique partners, and beta readers, she is published in non-fiction, as well as contemporary, erotic, paranormal and romantic suspense. When not attempting to make students, colleagues, and babies laugh, she can be found herding cats, waiting on a large gray dog, fishing, dining with good friends, or writing.
