Denver’s one goal in life is to become a fashion designer. Unfortunately, she needs rent money. Why not volunteer for an outlandish time travel experiment? It could be fun and spark new fashion ideas.

But the experiment takes her places she never expected, cutting her off from her dreams and dropping her into the world of a woman accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch trials. No promised stipend is worth a death sentence and bargaining for her life.

My Review

I love Juli D. Revezzo so much! Her stories are a mix of modern and past and they all contain that spark. The heroines are strong, determined and smart and that’s why I like her style so much.

“Fifty Measly Bucks (To Save a Witch)” is no different than her other works. It is an interesting and gripping story, with time travel and… an attempt to save a witch. Denver’s only preoccupation is her career as a fashion designer. But, as most students, money is a rare commodity and she tries her luck entering an experimental procedure involving time traveling, in exchange for $50. Little did she expect to be accepted and more to her surprise, the time travel thing really works.

Denver is sent to a time when women were trialed for witchcraft and people lived in fear of God. She has to push back everything she knows, starting with way of speaking, modern items and even clothing. But the game changes when a new player appears. Is Denver able to return to her times? Will she want to return or will she prefer these times when the possibilities seem unending?

I like the plot and the idea of a time travel machine. It was a little difficult to follow the events in the beginning and how easy Mary – the supposed witch blended with Denver’s personality. But what happens next is an amazing deployment of events, with many many interesting turns. Denver is fantastic, brave and committed to her tasks when in a different tome period.

So if you are in the mood for a quick story, entertaining, with a main character having to face extraordinary situations, this is the book for you. Actually, all the books I have read by this author are for you. 4 stars and my devotion to Juli D. Revezzo for all her work!

Let me know in the comments below if this sounds like something you would enjoy or if you have already tried a book by this author. Until next time, Happy Reading and Happy Holidays!
