“I’ll do whatever it takes to make her mine.”
Sarah
I have a secret. I’ve been in love with a cowboy since I was 16. For years I
wouldn’t admit it to myself, because I was focused on becoming a teacher. But
after graduating and being forced to take a job as a waitress, I find myself in
a situation where only Mac can help. A dark threat is closing in and he is my
only hope of escape.
Mac
I still remember the first time I saw Sarah. We were both teenagers, and she
was swimming in the lake wearing a sexy red bikini. Since then, I’ve ached for
her. But she had big dreams, so I settled for friendship. Until she finished
college… Now, I plan to do whatever it takes to make her mine. Step one will
mean helping her ditch her skeevy boss. Step two? Find out who is stalking her
and why.

Come meet the small town of Rock Springs Texas with a family that has your
back, a town that knows your business, and men who love with everything they
have.

My Review

This book has such a summer vibe to it. Maybe it’s due to the cover colors or maybe the idea of a small town romance is what makes me think of relaxing times, but regardless of the vibes, I enjoyed my time with Kaci Rose’s characters.

There is an avalanche of family moments and family supporting each other, which is a great start. We also learnt a little bit about our main character Mac’s past and how he ended up with his current family and how he met Sarah. Fast forward a few years and Mac decides it’s time to show her his true feelings. This happens at the rights moment, as she happens to be in need of a savior. So we see Mac and Sarah getting to know each other as more than friends while dealing with the threats that don’t see m to go away.

The chemistry is there, the beautiful friendship between the main characters and the small town spirit are completing a sweet picture. I love how supportive Mac is when it comes to Sarah’s dream and how determined he is to make it a reality, as close to him as possible. The passion was something I did not expect (in a good way). I mean, I was expecting an innocent romance, sweet and heartwarming but it does have the fiery moments to complete everything.

Still, there are a few things that made me significantly decrease my rating. For starters, we see a lot of the relationships from the previous books and I felt a little lost. Yes, it’s my fault for starting a series NOT with the first book, but it was overwhelming a bit. My main issue was with the plot. It is predictable and fast developing. I didn’t mind it that much, as I enjoyed the easy writing. We know the secret from the beginning and it’s a secret both characters keep from each other.

The story is told from two perspectives. We have Mac’s thoughts and as well Sarah’s. still, Mac’s part did not sound as “many” as I would have liked for the most part. There is also a point in the plot that is my opinion was not very good: Mac leaves Sarah alone in the house, knowing there was an attempted break in.

With all my good and not so good thoughts on “A Cowboy and His Secret” was a very enjoyable read. I love small town romance and I believe this book has many of its elements. 3.5 stars for now.

Cover Review: Yup, I like the colors, and I like how the couple on the cover is positioned. They seem a little shy to me, which is how I see our main characters. The ranch is there also… I like it J Goes with the story!

Until next time, Happy Reading!
