Mateo juggles his emotions perfectly. He is her best friend, always there when she needs someone. He is her protector and her biggest supporter. His personality contrasts with Sadie’s uncertainty, creating balance in their relationship.

Sadie’s best friends are also very well created, with distinct voices. Her bookshop employee Macy is also her biggest fan. She does everything in her power to help her face the town. I love how the personality differences between Macy and Jess shine through. Jess feels slightly tougher, bolder than Macy. I cannot wait for her story.
